The house is located on a corner plot in a very quiet street in Šestajovice. The surrounding buildings of small family homes situated near the forest naturally characterize the environment. The houses in the street create a continuous, uniformly scaled row. The problem arises when the row ends at the corner plot, and the proposed house is exposed to two streets at once. The house cannot create a classic standalone corner as we know it in urban space, considering the distance of the building from the property boundary. Therefore, we decided to move the main mass of the house further away from the street line, placing it more in the center of the garden that surrounds the house. As a result, all rooms on the ground floor are oriented towards the open garden. The dominant feature of the building is the horizontal element of the corner pergola, which wraps around the southern corner of the house, including the gable wall. Throughout the pergola, the outer walls of the house are clad in dark vertical wooden siding. The adjacent garage is anchored at the street line with the other houses.
This is a geometrically pragmatic house. There is an even greater emphasis on detail, both in the exterior and the interior. The most emphasized detail is the aforementioned corner of the house with the terrace. At this point begins the joint cut of the terrace, the wall cladding, and the underside of the pergola. The joints connect to create a closed, regular structure. The interior of the house is furnished modestly, in some places almost technically, so that the spaces in the small house are not overcrowded with furniture and decorations.
