The building plot is gently sloping to the west. It consists of a two-storey family house without a basement and a flat roof, with a footprint measuring 18.1 x 7.65 m and a height of 6.8 m above the ground.
Situation
The concept of the solution builds on the architecturally valuable functionalist interwar traditional construction in the village. The shape of the house is determined by the relatively narrow building plot. The flat roof is in context with the neighboring houses. The house is positioned approximately in the middle of the plot, with a setback distance of 2 m to the neighbor to the north and the southern boundary being approximately 2.5 m away. Windows from the living areas are mostly oriented towards the open parts of the plot, specifically to the west and east. The western wall is fully glazed, the entrance to the house and the garden tool storage is situated from the south, and the strip windows from the bedrooms face east towards the forest. On the northern side, there are windows from the service rooms of the house (kitchen, toilet, bathroom…). Access to the house is from the street, that is, from the west. Parking will be arranged in the form of a covered parking space adjacent to the fencing on the western street boundary of the plot.
Layout solution
The house has a rectangular footprint measuring 18.1 x 7.65 m. Its longer side faces south. This orientation is determined by the elongated shape of the plot. The entrance to the house is from the southern side. From the vestibule, there are separate entrances to both floors, each of which constitutes a separate residential unit.
1st floor – from the vestibule, we enter a hall that serves as a connector between two parts – the western part for socializing, where the living room with kitchen is located, and the eastern part for resting, which includes two bedrooms and necessary amenities. Along the hall, there are service rooms - a utility room, toilet, bathroom, a dressing room, and an externally accessible storage for garden furniture. The living room with a corner fireplace is two steps lower than the hall, resulting in a ceiling height that is 30 cm higher in the main living area (290 cm). This height difference also corresponds with the terrain configuration. From the living room, there is access to a terrace that is partially covered.
2nd floor – stairs lead us to the hall. The layout, similar to the 1st floor, contains a social part – a living room with a fireplace, kitchenette, and a nook for reading books, and a resting part, where there is a large bedroom with the potential for future subdivision into two rooms. From the hall, there is further access to a dressing room, bathroom, toilet, and pantry. The hall and staircase are illuminated from above by a skylight. The terrace adjoining the living room is partially recessed and protected from the elements.
Architectural solution
The family house is a white horizontal block with an east-west axis supplemented by a light wood cladding. Outdoor blinds (or aluminum exterior shutters) will serve as shading elements with additional thermal insulation function. These blinds will be partly transparent/translucent, thus allowing a view into the garden during the day and making the house glow like a lantern in an interesting way at night.
