A relatively large construction program that the client requested due to his numerous family needed to be placed on a small plot of land in the midst of existing residential buildings and villas. The building is designed as a spatially articulated, three-story mass, composed of variously sized blocks stacked one on top of the other. The orientation of the longer sides of the block mass stems from the shape of the plot, with the house turning its narrower side towards the street, thereby respecting the composition of the other buildings in the street. The main entrance is oriented to the southwest, towards the access road. The house consists of simple cubic masses, with a prevailing horizontal orientation of the wings of the above-ground floors and a material and color-dominant ground floor. The object is visually divided into two main, contrasting masses. The more articulated ground floor, clad in sandstone and wood, sharply contrasts with the simple cubic mass of the upper floor. This arrangement addresses the different spatial demands of the investor between the 1st and 2nd above-ground floors. The division into two masses with a contrast in color and structure between the individual materials gives a feeling of reduction to the object and creates pleasant living areas at the garden level. The ground floor is also significantly articulated with generous glazed openings that create a perceptual connection between the interior and the adjacent garden. Both parts will be covered by a flat roof, which will serve as a partially greened terrace above the expanded 1st floor.
