Rückl Flagship Store

Rückl Flagship Store
Rückl Flagship Store is a unique result of the revival of the traditional Czech family business Rückl, known for its handcraft of design glass and Czech crystal. It is located on the ground floor of an old burgher house in the historic center of Prague, not far from the Old Town Square. The store's design aims to contribute to the restoration of identity in the historical center through a Czech design store intended for the general public. In the store, the work of leading architects, graphic designers, and a designer has been uniquely integrated, managing to imprint the identity of the entire brand into the space. This is represented by a modernized logo featuring a stork and the brand's colors used in the interior design. In the design concept of the Rückl Flagship Store, it was essential to create a place that would represent Prague and Czech crystal. The store minimally influences the street, communicating with the surroundings through display windows and black awnings with a white logo. These refer to the lost character of the commercial street with a touch of luxury and originality. The interior solution is also minimalist. The store is a cleansed historical space filled with soft light, showcasing glass on display shelves made of black artificial marble. Handcrafted exhibition boxes underline the originality of each piece and simultaneously allow customers to see the uniqueness of the products and form a connection with them. In this process, the composition of light plays an irreplaceable role. It not only highlights the qualities of the crystal but also the space of the store itself. Crystal is like jewelry, where each piece has its special place and maximum customer attention. Great attention has been paid to the interplay of forms and details. On one hand, the store embodies a certain strictness and order of the displayed items, which contrasts with the asymmetrically vaulted space; on the other hand, it also conveys lightness in the composition of the individual design exhibition boxes embedded in the historical constructions. The ambition of the project is to bring nobility to the store, the street, and the city. It aims to once again highlight Czech glassmaking to its lost position and restore its vanished pride. It also strives to revive the Czech tradition of gifting glass design, whose value lies in tradition, craftsmanship, and culture. The store is not trendy, but timeless and unique. The rebuilt brand Rückl is an example of contemporary design that has humility and respect for its roots.
