The apartment near the Blue Church is a sort of weekend loft. In its original state, it was more of a larger and rigid "cell" with beautiful potential. We weren't looking for design or honest and meticulous craftsmanship; for us, that's not essential because it doesn't create that comfort and experience.
The original standard layout offered a separate bathroom, a lowered drywall ceiling with all possible technologies providing comfort, and a kitchen backed against the wall with its back to the view of the Blue Church.
By removing the ceiling, tidying up the technologies, and inserting a mezzanine, this studio became a fully-fledged apartment with a separate sleeping area and a comfortable staircase. We added almost 15 square meters to the total area. For us, however, it was about the views, perspectives, atmospheres, and the play of light and shadow. Therefore, the materials are largely transparent and purposeful.
We appreciate that there doesn’t have to be order in the apartment, that a person is in constant interaction with it, and that they can continually discover and compose it. It shifts its scales. And that's only because, from the whole to the detail, it's just the necessary elements. Thanks to which we are “just and primarily us” there.
