The interior design proposal for the PECka bistro in Gong in the Lower Vítkovice area was a true architectural challenge.

The multifunctional Gong hall was created by converting the former gas holder from 1924 in the Lower Vítkovice area. The combination of the vision of Jan Světlík and architect Josef Pleskot gave rise to a unique industrial building, which includes a multifunctional hall, gallery, educational lecture halls, and refreshments.

The original Marilyn café remained empty due to COVID until it was taken over by entrepreneur Tomáš Polák, who has already opened several establishments in the center of Ostrava and is now headed to Lower Vítkovice. The concept of the PECka bistro, as the name suggests, revolves around the preparation of authentic Neapolitan pizza and freshly baked bread thanks to its own oven located right in the establishment.

The space behind the bar is dominated by an Italian pizza oven and shelves with freshly baked bread. Behind the bar, I dared to complement the otherwise purely industrial interior with wooden elements to bring the atmosphere of a bakery a little closer.

I complemented the industrial character of the interior with simple furniture – small tables on metal bases with thin tops, chairs in gray and pastel metallic tones, and a dominant sofa in brick color. The size of the sofa was chosen proportionately to match the monumentally impactful industrial space of the former gas holder. Both the sofa and the Italian oven behind the bar are intentionally chosen as two dominant elements in the same brick color.
