A new orthodontic office was atypically established by the reconstruction of a floor in a bank building in the center of Olomouc. For no healthcare facility was found to have the ideal space.
The investor's wish was for an informal, almost homely environment that would not evoke the typical sterility of healthcare for patients.
From the shared hallway of the building, one enters the waiting room for two offices, which is adjoined by a glass partition to a niche with a washbasin and WC for patients. A room with technology, an X-ray machine, and a freezer for infectious waste is also accessible from the waiting room. The main area of the orthodontics is designed in an open space format, where individual dental chairs are separated by wooden-glass partitions. These partitions, along with plants, provide privacy for patients in the individual boxes, as well as generous sightlines. The doctor thus has an overview and quick access to all workstations of the orthodontic assistants. Common work surfaces with sinks, a refrigerator, and an autoclave adjoin the internal supporting wall. Each workstation is equipped with a dental chair, a nurse's workstation console, a mobile container, a space for placing clothes, and seating for any accompanying person. Cohesion is achieved with black accessories, black work surfaces, and black-painted radiators. The space is complemented by washable wallpaper with a tall motif. The office room is sufficiently illuminated by refurbished casement windows. The main office is operationally connected to the facilities for its employees. The existing doors have been refurbished. Hygienic facilities have ceramic tiling in a combination of white and beige. The same tiling appears in the waiting room for patients in a dark blue version. The offices are equipped with anti-static vinyl flooring, wooden partitions, and slats made of solid oak, while the storage spaces are made of lacquered MDF boards and the work surfaces from compact. The husband of the orthodontist made solid wood tables for the office from wood from his own forest.
