Architectural study addresses the design of a smaller residential complex in Újezd near Průhonice. The plot is located in the northwestern part of the village, within a broader area designated for future construction predominantly of family houses. An important task of the study was to find a way to design and build a new street that aligns with the village while also integrating into the suburban part of Prague. The orientation towards the street and neighbors, the shape and material solutions—everything was aimed at adhering to the basic concept of compact living. This prevents the creation of blind spots between houses, clearly defines private and public spaces, and prevents unwanted views into gardens from the street.
The houses are designed in two typological variants. They utilize similar architectural elements that are varied and complement each other in different ways. The buildings are distributed across several masses, each having its function, form, and various material solutions. Together with the newly established garden, they create a functional whole that offers its residents pleasant living conditions with sufficient technical infrastructure and storage spaces.
The "Triplex" type consists of houses in an L shape. The main mass of the house has a gabled roof. The orientation of the gable and ridge is based on local tradition, turned towards the street. Perpendicular to the house, there is a part for utility that is single-story with a flat, partially walkable roof. This spatial arrangement, in relation to other houses, creates semi-private nooks, illuminated from the south.
The "Duplex" type has a similar character. It takes advantage of the neighboring house to create a shared covered entrance portal. By receding the garage into the plot, it also creates an optical separation of the neighboring terraces.
