New building of the Dr. Pírek Clinic

The Dr. Pírka Clinic invited us to a competition at the beginning of 2016. The task was to create a hospital that would incorporate elements of a modern healthcare facility while also exuding a friendly atmosphere. Another requirement was to design a project that would be sensitively integrated into the natural environment of the forest park in the immediate vicinity of the rock.
The new multifunctional building for outpatient activities aims to relieve the constantly overloaded outpatient section of the clinic and ensure sufficient capacity and comfort for both patients and staff. It has successfully launched outpatient care in the fields of cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, vascular surgery, and pharmacy.
The architectural solution of the building sensitively respects its main purpose, which is the provision of medical care. The building houses not only outpatient care, physiotherapy, and a pharmacy, but also spaces for specialized seminars and lectures. People will find modern waiting rooms, a café, and a restaurant here.
The northern side facing Na Celně Street is clad in large-format sandstone up to three stories high - the same material as the surrounding rocks. The southern side features a light white facade maximally glazed, complemented by solid horizontal shading.
The clinic's management aimed not only to create a multifunctional healthcare building but also to integrate it as gently as possible into the surrounding environment. This has been achieved. The building is directly connected to the park of the complex via a pedestrian bridge. The construction wraps around the rocky elevation on which the older part of the clinic's complex stands. It is a slender, softly curved mass that resembles the rock it is situated next to in its geometric properties.
