The original assignment was a classic peripheral sports bar, filled with jerseys, pucks, balls, sticks, and signed artifacts of all kinds. The sports bar was, of course, to be complemented by a bar counter, televisions, a screen for broadcasting, a betting terminal, and an indoor pig roasting grill. We approached such an assignment as a challenge and ventured into previously unexplored territories of our artistic and communication skills.
During meetings with the client, we were able to significantly alter their originally intended aesthetics and create an environment for intense collective watching, experiencing, and commenting on sports broadcasts. The originally envisioned sports bar also expanded into a restaurant with modern cuisine.
The restaurant is two stories, with both levels connected by an opening in the ceiling, around which a wide balcony is created for guests to sit or stand. The projection area is visible from both levels. Emphasis was placed on very high-quality spatial sound. All interior constructions, including the ceiling and cladding structures, are made from spruce wood.
The mood in the space can be adjusted with many types of artificial lighting.
Ultimately, no sports artifacts are used in the space; the presentation of national pride is concentrated in the ceiling, which is supplemented by a grid of lights shaped and colored like the Czech flag. A switch at the bar can be activated after a goal has been scored during a match.
