In the shadow of the nearly completed giant building "Shard" by Renzo Piano, in the southern part of Southwark, the recently deceased Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta left his architectural contribution. Since 2001, the Museum of Fashion has been housed in the renovated former warehouse building.

The project was initiated at the suggestion of English fashion designer Zandra Rhodes. Temporary presentations of fashion collections are complemented by textile and jewelry design. The holistic representation of the object follows the architect's signature style, which was developed in collaboration with his son Victor. The use of vibrant colors, the compositional interplay of individual surfaces, volumes, and exotic expression in the street context of London reflects the school of Luis Barragán, of which Ricardo was a student. The facade is dominated by an orange color of a warm tone. Alongside exhibition spaces, the building also features a café with a shop, and art studios, where the retreating mass of the second floor is in a bright shade of pink. Together with the archetypally conceived entrance portal, they create a compositional unity supported by the "walls" of the main cubic volume. The color scheme of the interior is complemented by a combination of blue and yellow.
