Mikulášska 3 and 5

The original three-object structure consisting of three separate objects /originally from the end of the 19th century — rebuilt several times/ is located in the castle park near the statue of the Witch by Tibor Bártfai, and the last function of the object was an office with living quarters.
With the design, we attempted to visually open the object by removing the enclosed glass section - to create the atmosphere of the original courtyard space between the objects and to transfer the lost mass to the roof level by revealing the corten steel new form.
The original design gave even greater importance to the new form by piercing the rafters on the sides, making it visible from the lateral views, but ultimately, after several heritage commission reviews, a more subtle solution was adopted, and the new form is visible only between the original objects and in the design of the individual corten products.
The new purpose consists predominantly of short-term accommodation for tourists, a café, an atelier, and a spacious rooftop apartment.
In our solution, we tried to maintain the atmosphere of the original object while enriching it with contemporary architecture and interior design.
