The Furnicular is part of a strategy of connecting the castle on the hill with the old town below. With the exception of machinery, it was entirely designed by architects. It offers a series of spatial experience from the entrance on the lower station; the ride in a glass cabin with a view of the town to the end station when one enters the castle through the catacombs on the cellar. The lover station is covered with a glass roof on a light construction, and so is the cabin. The lower station has a glass roof which rests on a light construction. The cabin is made of glass, too. The visitor can enjoy the excitement of ascending and descending.
In addition, the glass lamellas on the roof of the cabin can be opened. The funicular is laid parallel to the remains of the medieval city walls. Its remains were reconstructed so the visitors can admire them during their trip.
