The Olšanská pub in the village square served for decades as a venue for the cultural activities of the residents. It was also one of the filming locations for the legendary film "Dědictví" by Věra Chytilová.
After years without intervention, however, the technical condition of the building deteriorated, it was no longer possible to host balls there, and the pub survived through compromises. Because there was a risk that the building in the middle of the village would become a ruin, the municipality decided to purchase the house and build a dignified space with its original purpose in its place. Its location is ideal for such a significant use.
The design of the new cultural center is based on the archetype of traditional rural buildings. The main entrance from the village square is emphasized by a stone risalit. The side entrance from the road is used for deliveries. The foyer directly connects to the hall and the square, creating an opportunity for various events to take place in all seasons, which will once again fill the center of the village with life. Balls, festivals, theaters, or plum brandy tastings that were organized until recently, as well as the high interest of residents in the building, prove that it will not remain just an empty statement.
In addition to the social hall, the building also houses a pub, which operates either independently or as a support for larger events. The spaces of the pub designated for daily operations are equipped with simple furniture, and the used furnishings and materials can be easily replaced. In contrast, the generous space of the hall, open to the roof structure, with seating in the gallery and a stage, creates a representative impression, thanks in part to the use of high-quality materials.
