The capital city of Prague, together with Prague City Tourism, has opened a new tourist operation in the renovated ground floor of the Old Town Hall, which symbolizes the overall cultivation of tourism in the Czech metropolis. In addition to the tourist information center and guide services, it also offers the first brick-and-mortar shop with cultured souvenirs, exclusively from local creators.

The studio Olgoj Chorchoj continued the building reconstruction of the town hall's ground floor designed by SGL projekt with the design of interior elements – both built-in and standalone furniture, lighting, and orientation elements.

The concept of the interior solution is, in principle, a materialization of simple function with a very subdued formal aspect. The newly designed elements are not meant to compete with the historical architecture; they simply aim to serve their purpose and are therefore very simple, constructed with an emphasis on durability and precisely executed details.

The interior design project for part of the ground floor of the historic Old Town Hall building includes the placement of ticket sales, an information center, a gift shop, and facilities for visitors and employees. The goal was to create a new unit for each of these functions that would meet the contemporary demands of visitors and create a healthy and inspiring working environment. The layout and shaping of the new elements take into account the natural movement in the space and do not disrupt the original architectural details of the Old Town Hall – the walls breathe, and the elements touch them only minimally without covering anything.

The main aesthetic concept is the visible distinction of the new elements, which is reflected in the choice of materials, colors, shapes, and placement in the historical environment. The appropriate choice of materials allows the elements to have rounded shapes without visible joints, with the motif of a rounded corner permeating the entire interior – on benches, pedestals, display cases, and counters, including their details.

The lighting system was chosen to allow for illumination of the Gothic vaults, work areas, and objects displayed in the showcases, without needing to intervene in the historical masonry in any way. It also considers future variability, as some elements may be moved.
