On Běhounská Street in Brno, we designed and subsequently realized a new interior for the Richter eyewear store, which has a tradition in the city.
The open layout of the interior allows visitors to experience a comprehensive range of optical services, the sale of glasses, and eye examinations, including contact lens fittings.
The illuminated glass display creates a scene, attracting the attention of passers-by to visit and thus becomes an important element. In our design solution, we sought to adapt to the original intention of architect Zoltán Egri from 1935, namely the concept of a functionalist portal with dark frames and glazing without mullions.
Nearby is the Savoy café, which was renovated in 1926 according to the project of architect Jindřich Kumpošt into a modern establishment with large-format glass displays. Similarly, modern technical innovations were used here, in the space of the eyewear display, that addressed open spaces in a very bold and unconventional manner from a structural point of view (e.g., riveted connections of the pillars that supported the upper floors).
