Interior of a mountain apartment, Špindlerův Mlýn
The weekend apartment is part of a newly renovated former guesthouse in Špindlerův Mlýn. It is situated on the ground floor of a house set on a hill at the end of a road, allowing the apartment's windows to frame an uninterrupted view of the Krkonoš landscape. The apartment's interior originally underwent renovation, but for the current owner it was unsatisfactory, leading to a complete reconstruction including the replacement of floors, ceilings, all furnishings, sanitary ware, etc. Based on his requirements, a warm interior was created, evoking a mountain cabin with a slightly industrial touch, with the main motif being natural wood in several shapes and surface treatments.

The 110 m² apartment is divided into several rooms via an entrance hallway – a bedroom, a children's room, a guest room, and the main living area with a kitchen. The interior is unified into a palette of just a few materials, dominated by natural spruce wood, very light gray paint, and topped off with a concrete ceiling featuring exposed cable management running throughout the apartment.

The interior emphasizes simplicity and integrity. The wooden floor in the hallway and main area transitions into natural spruce paneling on the walls. The wood's structure is enhanced by the relatively thick veneer and its subsequent brushing, which adds roughness and rawness to the material. The same material can also be found in individual pieces of furniture, creating a cohesive interior, while the kitchen countertop is stained a dark gray, separating it from the living area along with the island. This room is dominated by a large wooden dining table with hanging lamps and a plank paneling with a bench in the background. The rest of the interior is tuned to gray tones, soft pastel colors, always with a black accent. The same theme extends into the bedrooms, where the wooden floor is replaced by a soft carpet, and in the bathrooms, featuring large-format ceramic tiles with concrete and steel details. The feel of a mountain cabin is enhanced by the warm light of independently hung bulbs throughout the apartment and an ethanol fireplace in the corner of the living area. Individual spots in the interior are complemented by hanging or mounted lighting fixtures, each creating a different atmosphere, whether daytime or nighttime.
