House Zumthor

Residential building with an atelier. Living and working, family, children, grandchildren, brainstorming houses with younger colleagues – these things belong together for me. The house was built for this purpose. It has a fluid arrangement of spaces that gradually gain publicness (work) or gain privacy (living). The inner life of the house takes place around the maple garden. It connects with the growing village structure, buildings, meadows, gardens, fences, and paths. Above them is a steep slope covered with ash trees, which descends to the surface of the Rhine River.
