DUBoDOM

DUBoDOM originated as a collaboration between architect Paľo and winemaker Mišo. It stands in the forest, above a vineyard with over thirty years of ecologically cultivated grapevines.
The oak, which is the center of attention, grows on an old stone foundation that people manually collected from their vineyards over the centuries. The vineyards used to be all around. Where vineyards once stood, only the forest remains today, and this oak has grown.
The treehouse, DuboDom, is a refuge, a hideaway, a getaway, an eccentricity above the vineyard. The structure is a response to the desire of a person yearning for a short-term retreat in the silence of the forest, yet close to the city and the vineyard. It offers the visitor an intimate relationship with nature. A small, year-round wooden structure a few meters above the ground, which respects nature in all its beauty: no living branch of the majestic oak had to be cut, the layout as well as the overall dimensions of the object were determined by the branches of the tree itself.
DUBoDOM is secured to the oak, which branches just above the ground using so-called TABs (Treehouse Attachment Bolts) that were custom designed and manufactured for this project.
In the case of DUBoDOM, the center of gravity is just a few dozen centimeters above the ground, yet even in a gust of wind, one can feel the movement of the tree and the entire structure. Every branch or trunk passing through the walls, ceiling, or floor has enough space to sway in the wind as well as grow (though significant growth is no longer expected from the oak). The light wood used in the interior of the house forms a backdrop for the dark trunks and branches that "flow" through the space. After all, the oak is the host of this parasitic structure.
