Doosan Bobcat is engaged in the production of loaders, excavators, and other accessories for construction and agricultural machinery. All processes, from design to manufacturing, marketing, sales, and logistics, take place in Dobříš, near Prague. The project for the new EMEA headquarters was intended to be the culmination of the entire campus. It consists of a manufacturing plant, an innovation and training center. The headquarters includes spaces for administration, company management, and meeting rooms for clients.
Our concept was based on creating offices with a strong company DNA. Both we and the client wanted to create an environment that would be pleasant for people and distinctly identifiable with the industry in which Bobcat operates. It is therefore a "raw" environment of construction machinery, where we encounter stone, concrete, metal, wood, and even snow.
In addition to practical open-space offices, we created an unconventional meeting environment that individuals can choose based on their current mood. The biggest challenge was thematically designing meeting rooms according to the industries the machines operate in. For example, we have forestry, transportation construction, agriculture, construction, and gardening. Furthermore, we wanted to integrate original parts of the machines into the interior in an unconventional way. A bucket from an excavator was created as a sink, tracks from the machine and a bucket served as seating in the reception area.
During the design, great emphasis was placed on the quality of the internal environment. Perhaps this is also why the interior won first place in the Art of Space competition in the category of Healthy Environment and Sustainability. The victory is a combination of several aspects. Certainly, it is the ergonomics of the chosen furniture. Bobcat provided its employees with height-adjustable desks and quality chairs. There was no need to go for higher standards at the management offices. The space is democratic in that it provides equally high-quality working conditions for everyone. Another aspect was the acoustics of the environment. Although it is an open space, we divided it into smaller units. Thanks to interior greenery and various acoustic measures, we effectively reduced noise.
Even in the acoustic solution, a reasonable compromise can be found between effectiveness and design. The biggest challenge here was to solve the acoustics in the relaxation area with a glass roof. Suspended acoustic elements create simplified "clouds" in the sky. The quality of the air also plays a significant role in the internal environment. Although the building does not have opening windows, it features high-quality air conditioning ensuring a uniform flow of well-humidified air. And the last of the important points is the lighting, which is optimal throughout the space and meets all standards.
