1957-60 - joined the office of Nolen & Swinburn (James Nolen, Herbert Swinburne) in Philadelphia
1979 - founded his own office KPF (Kohn Pedersen Associates PC, Architects and Planners) in New York with William Pedersen and Sheldon Fox
1964-65 - worked at the New York office of Kahn & Jacobs Architects
1965-67 - led the studio Welton, Becket & Associates
1967-76 led the studio John Carl Warnecke & Associates with branches in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco
