Modern and contemporary architecture is found throughout Argentina and particularly in Buenos Aires – which is commonly known as the Paris of South America. A+U introduces some of the works built in the country over the past 20 years, and features residential, public and commercial projects by such architects as Rafael Iglesia, Marcelo Villafañe, GGMPU Architects + Lucio Morini, Ana Etkin, Adamo-Faiden and Pablo T. Betía. Illustrated throughout with colour photographs and technical drawings, this issue includes three essays that discuss issues of modernism in Argentina, prevailing tendencies amongst young architects, and the influence of the built environment on architectural discourse – with special attention paid to Buenos Aires.
